Common skin growths
Moles, warts, skin tags, milia and similar bumps are common. Most are harmless, but they can catch on clothing, spread (warts) or bother you cosmetically. A mole that changes needs checking.
How growths are removed
After examining the growth, sometimes with dermoscopy, the most suitable method is chosen.
- Radiofrequency or electrocautery: for skin tags, some moles and warts
- Cryotherapy: freezing, often used for warts
- Surgical excision: for moles that need removing in full, with testing
- Biopsy: a small sample sent to the lab when the diagnosis is uncertain
When to consider removal
Consider removal if…
- a growth catches on clothes or jewellery
- warts are spreading or painful
- you want a harmless growth removed
See a doctor promptly if a mole…
- changes in size, shape or colour
- bleeds, itches or becomes painful
- looks different from your other moles

Questions
Frequently asked questions
More questions? Ask the clinic on WhatsApp.
Is removal painful?
A local anaesthetic numbs the area, so most people feel little during the procedure.
Will it leave a scar?
Small procedures usually heal with a minor mark that fades, and this is discussed beforehand.
Can warts come back?
Yes. Warts are caused by a virus and can return, so repeat treatment may be needed.
Should moles be tested?
Moles that look unusual, or are removed because of concern, are sent for testing.
