Neurotoxin treatment for expression lines
Botulinum toxin injections to soften lines caused by facial movement, planned conservatively by dermatologist Dr. Omkar Warang, DNB.
Treatment timeShort
Starts workingIn a few days
Full effectAbout 2 weeks
LastsAround 3–4 months
Expression lines
Repeated facial movements, like frowning, raising the eyebrows or smiling, gradually create lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes. Over time, these can remain visible even when the face is at rest.
How neurotoxin works
Botulinum toxin is a purified medicine that temporarily reduces the activity of the specific muscles it is injected into. With less muscle movement, the overlying lines soften. The aim is a rested, natural look that still allows expression.
Very small amounts are injected at precise points. Commonly treated areas include frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.

2
On the day
A few quick injections with a very fine needle. The appointment is usually short.
3
Afterwards
Small bumps or redness fade quickly. You’ll be advised not to rub the area, lie flat or exercise strenuously for a few hours. Minor bruising or headache can occur.

Results

Treatment by Dr. Omkar Warang, DNB
Neurotoxin is part of Dr. Warang’s injectables practice, alongside skin boosters and fillers, which grew from his interest in facial aesthetics. His approach is to treat conservatively and review, so results look like you on a rested day.
Will I look frozen?
The aim is softer lines with natural movement. Doses are planned conservatively and can be adjusted at review.
How long does it last?
Commonly around three to four months, after which muscle activity gradually returns. It varies between individuals.
Is it safe?
In trained hands, it is a well-established and generally well-tolerated treatment. Side effects are usually mild, such as bruising or headache. Less commonly, a temporary drooping of the eyelid or brow can occur. Risks are discussed before treatment.
What happens if I stop?
The effect wears off and lines gradually return to how they would have been. Stopping does not make them worse.
