Nutrition and hair fall

Hair is sensitive to nutrition. Low iron, vitamin D, vitamin B12, protein or other nutrients can contribute to hair shedding, especially after illness, dieting or pregnancy.

Taking random supplements is rarely helpful. Testing first shows what, if anything, is actually low.

Should I take biotin for hair fall?

Biotin helps only if you are deficient, which is uncommon. Testing first avoids unnecessary supplements.

Commonly iron studies, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and thyroid tests, depending on your history.

Usually a few months, as hair follicles take time to recover.

It helps when nutrition is the cause, but many types of hair loss need medical treatment too.
